Family Maker Nights offer hands-on activities that incorporate the elements of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) through a Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) lens for families with children preschool through highschool.

Traditional Ecoogical Knowledge (TEK) is the environmental relationship and information held by Indigenous peoples.

HC Black Music & Arts Association


Purpose:
The purpose of HCBMAA is to cultivate a safe nurturing space for Youth and Families of Color in Humboldt County and increase cultural identity to our youth through workshops, restorative circles, cultural practices, and community outreach. We promote community resilience and sustainability through Black education and Afrocentric practices. Together, we foster a broader understanding of the contributions of persons of African descent in all fields of music, drumming, storytelling, and cultural arts. We believe in advocating and educating our youth with Black knowledge to promote health and wellness.

Do you have concerns about the impacts of the pandemic on your child's development? Developmental screening and enrichment resources are available by appointment. Arcata Play Center is invested in Ages and Stages developmental screening. We are proud to use the #1 developmental and social-emotional screeners to give kids a great start in life. Ask a facilitator how you and your child can get involved.
FAMILY TRAINING

Free Infant Massage

Dates: February 5 – February 26
Days/Times: Saturdays, 12:00-1:30pm

An infant’s first language is touch and massage is a beautiful tool caregivers can use to establish a strong bond and create a healthy attachment. Curriculum will include infant development, infant-parent communication, bonding and attachment, consent,
benefits of touch and the massage routine. Funded through a First Five Humboldt Partnership. Space is limited to five families. Please only register if you can commit to attending all four sessions.
